Nova of the Machines

by ajordanbooth

To escape a global disaster that would have taken their lives, scientist Ned Douglaston and his badly injured daughter, Aurora, jump through an interdimensional portal hoping to find somewhere, anywhere, safer. On the other side they find a mirror of Earth called Raeth, where humanity has abandoned the planet and left their artificial intelligences behind. The machines wander the empty world trying to fulfill their purposes, but without people to guide them they are stagnant and directionless—that is until they meet Ned and Aurora. As the machines come to revere Aurora, can the dysfunctional father and daughter save the mechanized race, or will playing god to the machines lead to nothing but destruction?
