Niacin also assists in circulating the blood and nerve function. Niacin works in the body to release energy from fats, proteins, and carbohydrates in food for effective use in the body.

When considering nutrition for a child, it is important to consider that he or she may not always be open to new foods, at least, not as quickly as an adult. Children’s taste buds do not work the same as they will when they are older and foods may taste more harsh to them than to an adult. Give your children time and let them make the choice for themselves.

Use cauliflower instead of potatoes. Boil cauliflower in a pot on the stove until very tender. Then, the cauliflower in a mixer or food processor with butter, light sour cream, salt and pepper, and blend until it reaches a smooth texture similar to mashed potatoes. It has far fewer carbohydrates and calories, as well as more nutrients and vitamins.

Nutritionists are aware that highly processed foods should be eliminated, or greatly reduced, from the diet. When these grains and flours are milled, the husk of the grain is removed, and many of the nutrients, vitamins and fiber are lost. Why get rid of this from the grains you eat to only replace it with wheat germ or other additives? Well, it actually seems kind of silly.
