I promised a friend before she died that I’d write a book about people grieving their friends. I’m now on #5, so it got a little out of hand…

This is my fourth career, after theatre (stage manager, director, administrator), fundraising, educational sales. A concussion in 2009 ended my sales career, but oddly gave me the opportunity to keep that promise.

It’s been an advantage to not be a grief professional. When I interview people for my books they know I’m there to listen, not criticize or diagnose. I’m humbled by their willingness to share the grief they’ve felt for their friends, as well as the determination to honor those friendships.
